Our Rotary club Rijeka organized the fifth benefit concert “Be here” on 4 December in the crowded Croatian National Theatre Ivan pl. Zajc featuring local music stars Damir Kedžo, Mia Negovetić and Vanna. Their performance at this traditional concert of a humanitarian nature impressed the packed audience of all generations, which was awarding the artists with frequent rounds of applause throughout the concert. At the very beginning of the evening the audience was addressed by the Governor of the Rotary District 1913, Goran Račić, President of the Rotary Club of Rijeka, Sandro Viškanić, and Prof. Goran Palčevski, Head of the Department of Pediatrics of the Clinical Hospital Center Rijeka, who specifically welcomed all children in the audience.
Funds raised by this humanitarian action will be donated to the Children’s Hospital Kantrida and for the renovation of the Department of Neurology and Psychiatry in order to enable parents to stay with their children for 24 hours.
The Children’s Hospital treats children from as many as three counties and their diagnoses are nowhere near harmless. These include cerebral palsy, epilepsy, hearing disorders, etc. As a children’s friend, Rotary is always happy to take part in such projects.
The event was hosted by the charming Adriana Karuza. The three artists gave impressive performances with astonishing vocal capabilities. Vanna rendered her well-known repertoire in a virtuoso performance for the audience, Damir Kedžo, who was accompanied by the great guitarist Zvonimir Radišić, awarded his fellow citizens with sincere emotions in an excellent performance, just like Mia Negovetić, who was visibly touched by the applause coming from the audience.
All who attended the concert and purchased the ticket helped to carry out this humanitarian children’s story and were awarded with extraordinary musical performances and an event that will surely stay in the treasuries of their memories for a long time.
